first play.

Today I played our audio piece to the group and Dom and Debbie. I received some really good feedback, and also some help on how to develop our film piece as well.

Everyone gave me post-it notes with their thoughts on what was good and what could be improved, also Debbie and Dom gave me spoken improvement tips, as well as telling me what they liked.

This was a really useful session as now I can take everything that everyone said into consideration when making the final changes to our piece.

post secret.

PostSecret is an ongoing art project created by Frank Warren. Within this project people mail Frank their secrets anonymously on a home-made postcard. Selected secrets are then posted on the PostSecret website every Sunday.

Every day dozens of postcards with intimate secrets still make their way to Warren, with postmarks from around the world, touching on every aspect of human experience.

Not only is this an ongoing art project,Warren has worked tirelessly as a volunteer and advocate for HopeLine, a suicide-prevention organization, and believes that by sharing our deepest secrets, we are able to heal ourselves and serve our communities.

I find this website, and the entire concept behind it, inspirational. Not only does each postcard hold an entire life and story behind it, they're done so creatively that it encourages other to get involved. Also, by doing this, it offers hope to people who need it, and it also does incredible work with the prevention of suicide, a topic very close to my heart.

editing our audio.

Today we finished our first draft of our sense of place audio. We managed to incorporate the best bits of the interviews (red) with our atmos track (green). we also used amplified sounds, for example of the police horses or the change buckets (yellow) these added to the piece and highlighted the sounds.

second trip to Bramall Lane.

Today we went to the Port Vale v Sheffield United FC football game at Bramall Lane.
Although we were unable to get permission from the media staff to film or collect audio within the grounds, we were able to get some footage of outside the grounds as well as collecting plenty of atmospheric audio from around the grounds as well. Also we were able to interview a few football fans, of both the opposing team and SUFC. Dani also got a few still shots of around the ground to use as location shots.

We are able to use almost all the footage we have, which is really good. This means that we just have the editing left to focus on.

permission to film.

As my last post shows, Dani tried to get into contact with Sheffield United Football Club, (the email I showed, as we as ringing their offices)  to ask permission to do some filming in the Hillsborough grounds, unfortunately they were not able to give us permission. Because of this set back we have had to plan other potential shots we can film instead, and we aim to add to these when we meet later on.

the king blues - 5 bottles of shampoo.

This is a poem that has inspired me. It comes from Jonny 'Itch' Fox, the lead singer of punk band, The King Blues. This is a song about the oppression of women in the modern day. Itch is showing his respect to women, and explaining how he finds it unbelievable that some men still act as if they own women, and still have no respect for them.

I think is a beautiful poem, 1 because of the content, and 2 because it branches out from the usual King Blues style.
